"Tornados, and Earthquakes, and Hurricanes, OH MY!"

Ok, SERIOUSLY???  When we moved to western Massachussets the biggest natural disaster threat was snow!  Since June we have had a tornado, an earthquake, and now we are preparing for a hurricane?  WELL FOR PETE'S SAKE!  Brad and I got hit be 3 hurricanes in Florida one year.  Here are some things that we learned.

1. Make sure you have enough food that you can make without electricity.
2. Have plenty of ice for your perishables.
3. Get yourself enough gas for your car and generator before it hits.
4. Connect with some friends, hunker down together and have a "hurricane party!"

Stay safe eveyone!

Close, but no cigar! Or should I say...

...close, but no potty. Alexander and I were at Kholes yesterday and when we passed through the kids section he saw a display of big boy underwear. Well, Thomas the Train, Buzz & Woody, and Lighting McQueen certainly caught his eye! When I asked him if he wanted to wear big boy underwear instead of his diaper he said, "Sha!" (In Alexander language that is "Yes") So, I asked him a bunch of questions about going pee-pee on the potty and no more diapers etc. just to make SURE! Well, he gave me all of the right answers so we got two packs. (They were buy one get one 1/2 off so of course I got two packs!) He chose Thomas and Woody & Buzz. Well when we got home he did NOT want to wear them and chose his diaper. So, I put them up on his shelf. This morning he wanted to wear his big boy underwear, so off came the diaper and on went a pair of Woody underwear. Then he was upset that he didn't have Buzz too, so on went a pair of Buzz ones over the Woody pair! So we had a looooooong talk about what to do BEFORE he goes pee-pee. Every 2 minutes I asked him, "Do you have to go pee-pee? Do you want to go sit on your potty?" Well, after 30 minutes and he looked at me and said, "Pee-pee!" Well, I jumped into action! With mind racing and adrenaline pumping I scooped him up, ran to the bathroom, thinking, "This is IT! He's gonna do it!" I took his underwear off and realized that they were soaking wet. Oh well. So, on went the diaper again! My thought...at least he knows WHEN he goes pee-pee!

Four, Five, P!

Alexander has been doing great with his speech.  The other day we were reading the Dr. Seuss book, "Ten Apples Up On Top" (I feel like if I say, "ten apples up not one will drop" one more time my head just might explode!) and he was saying the last word or two of every sentence.  He was saying four and five with the "f" sound and that was the first time I had heard it.  When I asked him to say fish he still said, "P!"  I thought it was so funny that I had to get it on video...enjoy!

I decided to do a second take and here is what happened!

Happy 98th birthday!

No that's not a typo! Grandma Dietrich (Eileen's grandma) who is Alexander's Great, Great Grandma tuns 98 today!  Alexander has a message for YOU Grandma!
